1. If people are lazy and wasting time by gossiping, mere political freedom won’t make any difference for them. So, Tagore says that we should strive tirelessly to achieve perfection in the longer run. To make it easy, we should work hard and not get tired by working. Our aim should be to attain perfection in whatever we do.

2. Tagore envisions the "clear stream of reason" as people caring about what affects them. He wants people to use their voice to take action.

3. Dead habit refers to mindless practicing of obsolete customs and traditions, old beliefs, superstitions and a narrow-minded attitudes. This habit corrodes the mind and renders it useless.
