Read the following excerpt from Dr King’s “I have a dream” speech:
Vera_Pavlovna [14]
Dr. King refers to peaceful protest when referencing the "majestic heights".  He describes peaceful protest as meeting physical force with soul force, or the will to see that justice is enacted through nonviolent means. This is truly a difficult thing to accomplish in the face of brutal injustice, and is a majestic height to reach indeed. Dr. King proved that such heights could be reached, and that real progress toward equality could be made by nonviolent means.

George Orwell gives examples of bad writing in the essay “Politics and the English Language.” Choose two examples from the essay
skad [1K]

1. In my perspective, the quality of writing has diminished in recent years as a result of larger and more accessible platforms, as well as a lack of literary authority, which allows anyone to write and publish a book.

2.  I believe Orwell’s criticism is valid.

3. I believe his examples are given systematically and accurately.

4. I do believe that people are writing in similar way now and that mostly is a problem.

Who is George Orwell?

George Orwell, born Eric Arthur Blair, was an English novelist, essayist, journalist, and critic.

Authors of modern prose or poetry ignore the text and instead string together clichéd words or phrases: "...prose includes less and less of words chosen for their meaning, and more and more of sentences glued together like prefabricated hen-house parts."

In my opinion, Orwell's criticism in "Politics and the English Language" is justified. This is a problem not only in English language and literature, but in all languages and literatures around the world. As a result, Orwell is correct in criticising modern society for allowing language to degenerate.

In this article, Orwell carefully and accurately identifies faults in the English language and modern literature and provides suitable examples to support his claims. Orwell quotes or produces instances to substantiate his points.

Most of Orwell's major concerns about society's evolution come true, including the deterioration of language and are, which is not curable.

matrenka [14]

Read the excerpt from "Justin Lebo.”

It was a BMX bike with a twenty-inch frame. Its original color was buried beneath five or six coats of gunky paint. Now it showed up as sort of a rusted red. Everything—the grips, the pedals, the brakes, the seat, the spokes—were bent or broken, twisted and rusted.

The author most likely included these details in order to

highlight the amount of money Justin had to spend to restore the bicycle.

illustrate why Justin wanted to give the bicycle away to someone else.

emphasize how hard Justin had to work to restore the bicycle.

show why Justin may have made a mistake in buying this bicycle.

Answer:

emphasize how hard Justin had to work to restore the bicycle.

Explanation:

According to the excerpt from "Justin Lebo.”, the narrator describes an old BMX bicycle and the sorry state it is in. He says it is covered in dirt and the color is already ruined.

The author most likely included these details in order to emphasize how hard Justin had to work to restore the bicycle.
