Find the graph of the equation y = x² - 4x + 4.

This is in the general form y = ax² + bx + c

1.) Graph shape. For parabolas, if the a-value is positive, the graph opens upward, creating a U-shaped graph. If the a-value is negative, the graph will open downwards.

Our equation has a positive a-value, which means our graph will open upwards in a U shape. This rules out options (a) and (d), as they both open downwards.

2.) The axis of symmetry. To find the axis of symmetry (the middle of the graph, and in this case, its x-coordinate), use the formula x = -\frac{b}{2a}.

x = -\frac{(-4)}{2(1)}

x = -(-2) = 2

The vertex of the graph is at x = 2. Graphs (b) and (d) both have a vertex at x = 2, but we already ruled out (d) because it opens in the wrong direction for our equation. This means the correct option must be option (b).

Note: The equation of the parabola tells us that the y-intercept of the graph is at y = 4. We can see that option (b) is the only option that has a y-int at 4. This allows us to check our work.

Elle decreased her monthly budget from $250 to $200. Calculate the percent decrease
kirill [66]
Formula for finding percent change (increase or decrease) is amount of the change divided by the original amount.

Here, the amount of the change is 50 and the original amount is 250.

50/250= 0.2

Multiply by 100 to get percent.

20% decrease (because budget went down)

-20y + 15 = 2 - 16y + 11
shtirl [24]
In order to answer this, we will first need to combine like terms on each side. on the left, you can leave them alone. however on the right, we will need to combine 2 and 11. this is 13. the right side becomes 13-16y. after that, we can add 20y to both sides. that equals 15=13+4y now we can subtract 13 from both sides. 2=4y. then we divide by 4 on both sides to find y. y=.5

Pull displays his sports trophies on shelves in his room. he has 5 trophies on each of 3 shelves and 2 trophies on another shelf
Vesnalui [34]
5 + 5 + 5 = 15
15 + 2 = 17 trophies
(5 x 3) + 2 = x (This is a possible way of writing the expression.)
