In this poem Angelou shows that a confident woman who values herself is a beautiful woman, even if she does not fit the standards of beauty defended by modern society. Angelou reinforces that the beauty standards are superficial and shallow, but a strong personality, a self-confidence, a natural sensuality and the enhancement of the best physical and emotional characteristics is what makes a woman stunning.
