The definitions although might seem similar, they're actually not. We can see some key words which allows us to differentiate. For instance, definition 3 says " a nation", thus, a nation cannot be other than a "country"  and well, we have "satellite country" which is no better explained than that. Definition two and one are different as one is a "law", a "principle" (imperialism) and the other is an action (colonization). Looking for keywords is always really helpful when you face "similar" concepts, looking for them helps you analize and reflect as well on coherence, as well.
