Answer: The Cold War, the open but confined competition that formed between the United States and the Soviet Union and their respective allies after World War II. On diplomatic, technological, and propaganda lines, the Cold War was fought and had only limited recourse to arms.  The concept was first used in an essay written in 1945 by the English writer George Orwell to refer to what he predicted would be a nuclear stalemate between "two or three monstrous super-states, each with a weapon that could wipe out millions of people in a few seconds." In a speech at the State House in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1947, the American financial and presidential advisor Bernard Baruch first used it in the United States.

What were the religious political and economic motivations behind the crusades?
gayaneshka [121]

The Crusades were called because of religious devotion but the call was answered because to the desire for political and economic gain.

A call went out for soldiers to take Jerusalem from the Seljuk Turks.

Many second and third sons answered the call. In the Holy Land they could carve out principalities and become Lords. In Western Europe the land was all taken. The call was answer by most Crusaders for dreams of political and economic gain.

The Eastern Roman Empire had appealed for help became of the amount of land and control that they had lost to the Seljuk Turks.

The agreement with the Pope was that the Crusaders would liberate not only Jerusalem but the lands lost to the control of the Turks.

When the Crusaders liberated the land they kept the land for themselves. This showed that the reasons that the Crusaders answered the call was not religious devotion but economic greed.

Haha, hope this helps. <3 !

Who created the first aircraft
olga55 [171]

Answer:

The Wright Brothers

Explanation:

The Wright Brothers created the first air craft on December 17, 1903. Buoyant over the success of their 1902 glider, the Wright brothers were no longer content to merely add to the growing body of aeronautical knowledge; they were going to invent the airplane. Still, they recognized that much hard work lay ahead, especially the creation of a propulsion system. During the spring and summer of 1903, they were consumed with leaping that final hurdle into history.

Hope this helps
