Prometheus, was the Greek god of fire. He was considered the wisest of his race, is credited with the creation of humans, and giving them knowledge. He married Pyrra, the first women created by the gods, but he was later punished by Zeus for giving humans fire and not telling him who would dethrone him in the future. His punishment was that during the day an eagle would scratch and tear at his flesh and then eat his liver, and it would grow back every night.
