Casco Viejo, also recognized as Casco Antiguo or San Felipe, is the famous region of Panama City. Developed and established in 1673, it was organized following the near-total removal of the initial Panama city, Panama Viejo in 1671 when the latter was charged by pirates. It was nominated a World Heritage Site in 1997.
<span>The type of building that is not common in the casco viejo district is high-rise buildings. Casco veijo is located in Panama province also known as San Felipe which means the old city's heart. The other name of casco viejo is Casco antiguo and it was a historic district of Panama city.</span>
