After reading the assigned text, what did you learn are some of the most important ideas in stories from Iceland? Are Icelandic

folk tales like ones you are familiar with, or are they completely different? Formulate a simple research question based on these concepts. For example, you might ask, "What are common themes in Icelandic folk tales?" Go online, do a quick search for information, and write down your findings. Look over what you found and ask yourself, "What else do I want to know?" Form a new research question based upon your interest. Answer:

I am not familiar with many Icelandic folk tales, so obviously these are unfamiliar to me. When I researched some Icelandic folk tales, I realized that most of them have either trolls or elves in them. This is very interesting, and I wanted to know more about why this was, so I looked it up. It seems that there are so many trolls and elves in the folk tales because they are deeply rooted in the culture of Iceland. Maybe some folk stories from around here have elves or trolls in them, but certainly not as much as the Icelandic ones. I also wonder I there are some Icelandic folk stories that do not have these common themes in them, Though there probably are. Because we can see a pattern in Icelandic folk tales, I wonder if there is a noticeable pattern in folk stories from around here.

What sins are punished most severely and why? Or what does Inferno indicate about medieval values? You must also respond to this
natima [27]

Answer:

What sins are punished most severely and why? Or what does Inferno indicate about medieval values?

The four sins that are most severly punished are: heresy, violence, fraud and treachery, in that order.

We can see a common thing in these sins: either they are related to falsehood and lying (heresy, fraud, and treachery), or they are related to physical aggression (violence).

This classification tells us that in Medieval times, people were particularly concern with honesty and lack of aggression. In particular, heresy is a sin expected to be thought as one of the worst, because of the great importance that religion had at the time, and because many people considered heretics were executed during this era.

Treachery can also be expected to be the worst sin of all, because of its relation with Judas, who betrayed Jesus.

Do you agree with Dante's hierarchy of Hell? Why or why not?

I personally agree with his hierarchy of Hell. Dante was a very smart thinker and good writer, and he developed a vision of hell that not only agrees with many medieval values, but also with values of the modern era.
