How many grams of sodium chromate, Na2CrO4, are needed to react completely with
JulsSmile [24]

Answer:

We need 27.0 grams of Na2CrO4 to react with 56.7 grams of AgNO3

Explanation:

Step 1: data given

Mass of silver nitrate AgNO3 = 56.7 grams

Molar mass AgNO3 = 169.87 g/mol

Molar mass of Na2CrO4 = 161.97 g/mol

Step 2: The balanced equation

2AgNO3 + Na2CrO4 → Ag2CrO4 + 2NaNO3

Step 3: Calculate moles AgNO3

Moles AgNO3 = mass AgNO3 / molar mass AgNO3

Moles AgNO3 = 56.7 grams / 169.87 g/mol

Moles AgNO3 = 0.334 moles

Step 4: Calculate moles Na2CrO4 moles needed

For 2 moles AgNO3 we need 1 mol Na2CrO4 to produce 1 mol Ag2CrO4 and 2 moles NaNO3

For 0.334 moles AgNO3 we need 0.334 / 2 = 0.167 moles Na2CrO4

Step 5: Calculate mass Na2CrO4

Mass Na2CrO4 = 0.167 moles * 161.97 g/mol

Mass Na2CrO4 = 27.0 grams

We need 27.0 grams of Na2CrO4 to react with 56.7 grams of AgNO3

What is added to a concentrated solution of sodium thiosulfate to dilute it?
steposvetlana [31]

Answer:

Water is added to a concentrated solution of sodium thiosulfate to dilute it.

Explanation: Water is a universal solvent. It has the capability to dissolve many substances in it. When water is added to a solution, the concentrated solution can be diluted. Dilute solution means the presence of water in high amount and solute quantity is very low.

Assuming equal concentrations and complete dissociation, rank these aqueous solutions by their freezing points.
OverLord2011 [107]
The freezing point depression is a colligative property, which means that it depends on the number of particles of solute disolved in the solution.

When you have solutes that are ionic compounds they dissociate in water into ions, then the compound that dissociates more ions will produce more particles and will decrease the freezing point the most.

Given theses aqueous solutions Na2 CO3, Co Cl3, and Li NO3 you can predict the order of the freezing points.

First, write the dissociation equations>

Na2CO3 -> 2Na(+) + CO3 (2-)  These are 3 ions: two of Na(+) and one of CO3(2-)

The number inside parenthesis are number of charge not number of molecules.

Co Cl3 -> Co(3+) + 3 Cl (1-) Those are 4 ions: one of Co (+) and three of Cl (-)

Li NO3 -> Li (+) + NO3 (-) those are two ions: one of Li (+) and one of NO3(-)

Then the ionic compound that dissociates into more ions give the solution with lower freezing point, and these is the rank from higher to lower freezing point:

Li NO3 > Na2 CO3 > Co Cl3.
