sive years. The turnips helped keep the weeds down and were an excellent forage crop—ruminant animals could eat their tops and roots through a large part of the summer and winters. There was no need to let the soil lie fallow as clover would add nitrates (nitrogen-containing salts) back to the soil. The clover made excellent pasture and hay fields as well as green manure when it was plowed under after one or two years. The addition of clover and turnips allowed more animals to be kept through the winter, which in turn produced more milk, cheese, meat, and manure, which maintained soil fertility.

What is Four field crop rotation system

Answer:

This is a system of crop rotation, invented by Charles 'Turnip' Townshend, which involves the planting of Clover and turnips after wheat, oats, and or barley, so as to regain the lost nutrient, back into the soil

Explanation:

This is a system of crop rotation, invented by Charles 'Turnip' Townshend, which involves the planting of Clover and turnips after wheat, oats, and or barley, so as to regain the lost nutrient, back into the soil. Often carried out on a four year cycle.

This in turn leads to the creation of animal fodder, the enrichment of the soil and the production of food for people.

Hence, given the animals to be grazing on the clover and turnip fields, eating the crop, their droppings helped to improve the fertilizers content in the soil.

The four field system is considered a success because, the result shows that there is improvements in the quantity of food produced.

tia_tia [17]

Answer:

The term "going public" refers to:

a. action taken by a president to communicate directly with the people in order to influence public opinion and put pressure on Congress.

Explanation:

When a president goes public, that means he addresses the people directly in order to "sell" his programs. That is, instead of presenting his policy agendas to the Congress, the president presents it to the people first. By doing so, the president is able to get the people on his side, which pressures the Congress. However, such a tactic offers risk. If a president fails after "going public", he may appear ineffective.

maxonik [38]
Compare and contrast the three components of a sustainable society.

ecological integrity
ecological integrity is the idea that we should use the resources of the earth in a way that could supply our demands without facing a loss in those resources. what we extract from the planet, we shall put it back where it belongs. this is a foundation of a sustainable society as it preserves the environment in which we live, and so it supports all the life on the planet.

social justice
social justice is the concept that discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, race or any kind of discrimination should end. Moreover, it is believed that we should create a society where nobody is in danger of extreme poverty or abuse from any other person or entity. This is a foundation of a sustainable society as it preserves the connections between us.

economic prosperity
economic prosperity is the idea that, in order to sustain ourselves, our economy should prosper. many confused this idea with economic grown, but they are not the same. prosperity means that everybody can leave well, while grown means only that an indicator tells us the economy is growing, but in reality, it is not connected with the real economy.

how each component can work together
each component could work together starting with a change of mindset in which humanity doesn't perceive itself as the best species on the planet, but one of the species on the planet. in the moment we truly understand that we are not above nature, but with nature, we understand that we should work with the ecosystem, creating a circular economy that can power a fair an just society.

In what year did Texas become a one-party Republican system, substantially changing Texas party politics
worty [1.4K]

Texas changed from a one party Democratic state to a one party Republican state with the 1980 presidential election of Ronald Reagan.

The Republican party developed dramatically in Texas during the Reconstruction Era, post constitutional amendments freeing the slaves giving suffrage to black males. After the Reconstruction Era, the Republican party of Texas gradually lost power and the Democrats passed disfranchising laws near the turn of the century requiring poll taxes be paid prior to voter registration, with parties establishing white primaries , black voting dropped.

As a result, the biggest base of electoral support for the Republican party in Texas was German Texan community. The first Republican statewide primary was held in 1926, but drew only 15, 239 voters as by the disfranchisement was well established and Texas was essentially a one- party state.
