Answer: Number 1 is c=89 ft

Number 2 is b=3 cm

Step-by-step explanation: a²+b²=c²

For number 1, 39 ft is a and 80 ft is b so

39²+80²=c² so 39² is 39x39=1521 and 80² is 80x80=6400 so 6400+1521=7921

7921=c² and the square root of 7921 is 89 so c=89 ft

For number 2, a=1.6 cm and c=3.4 cm so 3.4²-1.6²=b²

3.4² so 3.4x3.4 which is 11.56

1.6² so 1.6x1.6 which is 2.56

11.56-2.56=c² and 11.56-2.56=9

Square root of 9 is 3 so b=3

So number 2 answer is b=3 cm

I hope this helps

Suppose Y varies directly with X, and Y = 15 and X = 5. Write a direct variation equation that relates X and Y. What is the valu
Oksana_A [137]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

If two variables are directly proportional, it means that an increase in the value of one variable would cause a corresponding increase in the other variable. Also, a decrease in the value of one variable would cause a corresponding decrease in the other variable.

Given that Y varies directly with X, and Y = 15 and X = 5, if we introduce a constant of proportionality, k, the expression becomes

15 = 5k

k = 15/5

k = 3

The equation would be

Y = 3X

Therefore, when X = 9, the value of Y would be

Y = 3 × 9

Y = 27

A home’s value increases at an average rate of 5.5% each year. The current value is $120,000. What function can be used to find
Pachacha [2.7K]

Answer:

f(x)=120,000 \times (1.055)^{x}.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that,

The present value for the home is $120,000 and the rate of interest is 5.5% i.e. 0.055.

As we know that the function for the home is given by,

f(x)=P \times (1+r)^{x}

where P = present value, r = rate of interest, x = number of years.

So, according to the question, we get that,

f(x)=120,000 \times (1+0.055)^{x}

i.e. f(x)=120,000 \times (1.055)^{x}.

Hence, we see that the function that represents the value of the home is f(x)=120,000 \times (1.055)^{x}.
