Answer:

Some people may have agreed with him because society was different, but now if he were in the modern era he would be canceled. The term canceled means to stop supporting someone and calling them out. One thing that people do not like now is being a republican, Harding was a republican and Trump was a republican, seeing how much hate Trump got im guessing Harding would get the same. Harding also had an extramarital affair, if people found out about this he would be canceled and not a lot of people would support and this could have ruined his life.

Many enlightenment thinkers were writing their views on government in
MissTica

The reason why many enlightenment thinkers were writing their views on government was in response to Absolute Rule of Monarchs.

Why did Enlightenment thinkers speak on government?

Europe at the time before the Enlightenment was led by monarchs who ruled as they pleased and without regard for laws because they were above the law.

Enlightenment thinkers were against this notion and so wrote on government to show what alternatives needed to be put in place.
