Which best describes how the electoral college affects the executive branch?
grandymaker [24]

The Electoral College affects the executive branch because it determines the next president and vice president.

The Electoral College is the system used every four years to determine the president. Each state has delegates that represent the interests of the voters. These delegates are then tasked with giving a states electoral votes to a particular candidate. The candidate who receives the most votes in a particular state will receive that states electoral votes.

In order to become president, a candidate must receive 270 electoral votes. The number of electoral votes for each state varies. States with larger populations usually have more electoral votes than those states with smaller populations.

What does the excerpt suggest about Federalists number 55
ruslelena [56]

The correct answer is: D. They believed that representatives were better able to vote on national issues than ordinary citizens were.

Explanation

The excerpt contrasts ancient democracies, that were characterized by tyranny and run by mobs, to the idea of a large government representation so as to demostrate that whenevever a group of people is assembled, no matter who is in it, they tend to make the wrong decisions, that is, decisions led by passion instead of reason as stated in the excerpt:

"<em>passion never fails to wrest the sceptre from reason".</em>

Moreover, Federalists wanted a strong national government, instead of granting the power to the states, and believed that only one person could represent 30.000 people.
