Answer: The Dutch East India Company issued shares that were made tradable on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. That invention enhanced the ability of joint-stock companies to attract capital from investors, as they could now easily dispose their shares. Joint stock companies were businesses of sorts, where wealthy Englishmen would invest money in one, and in return they in the new world. The most well known joint stock company was the Virginia Company ( Founded Jamestown, Virginia).
