You know you love a person when you can see their flaws and mistakes and look past them. You know you love them when you immediately think of them when you find something pleasant, and want to share it with them. When you find something unpleasant, you're glad it wasn't them. You look to your future and you want them to be there with you as you go. You constantly think of them, in good times and bad. You never need to censor yourself around them because you know they will accept you. You are truly in love with them when you aren't ashamed of it.
