Correct the error a student made when solving the equation 4=-2(x-3). What is the correct solution?
Murrr4er [49]
In the first step when the student did -2x-3 they didn’t make the sign positive. It should be 4=-2+6, not 4=-2-6

Solve the following inequality for m. Write your answer in simplest form. - 7 + 5(9m – 7) < 9m - 2 - 9 m < - 2 Submit Answ
Lubov Fominskaja [6]

Answer:

m < \frac{36}{31}

Rearrange:

Rearrange the equation by subtracting what is to the right of the greater than sign from both sides of the inequality :

               -7+5*(9*m-7)-(9*m-2-9)<0

Step by step solution :

STEP  1

:

Equation at the end of step 1

 (-7 +  5 • (9m - 7)) -  (9m - 11)  < 0

STEP  2

:

Equation at the end of step 2

 36m - 31  < 0

STEP  3:

3.1    Divide both sides by  36

     m-(31/36)  < 0

Solve Basic Inequality :

3.2      Add  31/36  to both sides

            m < \frac{31}{36}

A student uses 1/2 quart of paint in 3/4 hour. What is her usage rate in quarts per hour?
KiRa [710]

Answer:

1 1/2 quarts per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

To do this you would divide 3/4 by 1/2 to do divide you flip 1/2 to 2/1 then multiply.

3/4*2/1=6/4 which is also equal to 1.5 quarts of paint per hour.

AB and BC form a right angle at their point of intersection, B.
Brilliant_brown [7]
To find the y intercept of AB, first find the slope of AB: m=(1-(-1))/(2-14)=-1/6
the equation of line AB is y=-(1/6)x+b
use either of the given two points to find out b: 1=(-1/6)*2+b => b=4/3
BC is perpendicular to AB, so the slope of BC is the negative reciprocal of the slope of AB, therefore, the slope of BC is 6
Equation of BC is y=6x+b
find out b by using the coordinates of point B: 1=6*2+b  => b=-11
the equation of BC is: y=6x-11

the x coordinate of point C: 13=6*x -11 =>x=4

Please double check my calculation.
