Can you tell my friend this is right so he can stop saying it is wrong
Natasha2012 [34]
Your graph is correct.
You start with point (0, 40). On day 0, you have 40 T-shirts.
Each day that passes, you have 5 shirts fewer. (1, 35) means on day 1, you have 35 shirts left. Each day that passes, there are 5 fewer shirts. On the 8th day, there are no shirts left. That is point (8, 0).

Good job!

Is it true that a line with slope 1 always passes through the origin? Explain your reasoning.
elena55 [62]

Well, yes and no.

Yes, because the straight line needs to pass through a number greater than 0, and 1 is obviously greater than 0.

However, y = x + 1 is not the same as y = x.

hope this helps.! let me know if it's in any way confusing..

I'd be happy to help!

Limit question: lim x-->pi ((e^sinx)-1)/(x-pi)
aleksandr82 [10.1K]
\displaystyle\lim_{x\to\pi}\dfrac{e^{\sin x}-1}{x-\pi}

Notice that if f(x)=e^{\sin x}, then f(\pi)=e^{\sin\pi}=e^0=1. Recall the definition of the derivative of a function f(x) at a point x=c:

f'(c):=\displaystyle\lim_{x\to c}\frac{f(x)-f(c)}{x-c}

So the value of this limit is exactly the value of the derivative of f(x)=e^{\sin x} at x=\pi.

You have

f'(x)=\cos x\,e^{\sin x}\implies f'(\pi)=\cos\pi\,e^{\sin\pi}=-1
