The American colonies, 13 in total decided to cut their relations with Great Britain as a consequence of <em>The Declaration of Independence </em>issued by the <em>Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776</em>. This important document recapitulated the desire of the 13 American colonies to be independent and express their alliance with France in order to get their support in the confrontation with Great Britain.
