As we know we cannot continue burning gas, coal, oil if we are going to avoid the bad impacts of the climate crisis. We need to take typical action in the next decade to completely phase out fossil fuel production and transition our economy to 100% pure renewable energy.

Another reason is burning fossil fuels also produces localized air pollutants - such as soot(fine particulate matter, or pm2.5) and smog that increase the risk of death from lung cancer, heart disease, and respiratory illness among those exposed.
