Make y the subject of the formula <br><br> W= x squared - 2yz
AveGali [126]

Answer:

The formula    y = \frac{x^{2} }{2z} + \frac{W}{2z}

Step-by-step explanation:

<em><u>Explanation</u></em>

Given   W = x² - 2 y z

          2 y z = x² + W

Dividing '2z' on both sides , we get

         \frac{2yz}{2z} = \frac{x^{2} + W}{2z}

⇒       y = \frac{x^{2} }{2z} + \frac{W}{2z}

On a number line, A is at -3 and B is at 7. What is the coordinate of C, which is 3/5 of the way from A to B?
cupoosta [38]

|-3|+|7|=10.  The distance of the 2 numbers is 10, next multiply 3/5 into 10 and you get 6. -3+6 is 3, so the point you will end up on is 3.

Factor the polynomial:<br><br> a^4+2a^3-a-2
Black_prince [1.1K]

Answer:

(a-1) *(a^2 +a-1) (a+2)

Step-by-step explanation:

a^4+2a^3-a-2

Lets factor by grouping

a^4-a +    2a^3-2

Factor out an a from the first group and a 2 from the second group

a(a^3 -1)  +2(a^3-1)

Factor out (a^3-1)

(a^3-1)(a+2)

We need to recognize that a^3-1 is the difference of cubes

(x^3-y^3) = (x-y) (x^2+xy+y^2)

Let x=a  and y=1

(a-1) *(a^2 +a-1) (a+2)

An English professor assigns letter grades on a test according to the following scheme. A: Top 13% of scores B: Scores below the
klio [65]

Solution :

The test is distributed normally with mean of 72.8 and the standard deviation of 7.3

Finding numerical limits for the D grade.

D grade : Scores below the top 80% and above the bottom 10%.

Let the bottom limit for D grade be $D_1$ and the top limit for D grade be $D_2$.

First find the bottom numerical limit for a D grade is :

$P(X

$P(X\leq D_1)= 0.10$

$P\left(\frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} \leq \frac{D_1-\mu}{\sigma}\right) = 0.10$

$P\left(Z \leq \frac{D_1-72.8}{7.3}\right) = 0.10$    ..........(1)

From (1)

$\frac{D_1 - 72.8}{7.3} = -1.28$

$D_1 = -1.28(7.3)+72.8$

      = 63.45

       ≈ 64

Now the top numerical limit for D grade :

$P(X>D_2)= 0.80$

$1-P(X\leq D_2)= 0.80$

$P(X\leq D_2)= 1-0.80$

$P(X\leq D_2)= 0.20$

$P\left(\frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} \leq \frac{D_2-\mu}{\sigma}\right) = 0.20$

$P\left(Z \leq \frac{D_2-72.8}{7.3}\right) = 0.20$    ..........(2)

From (2)

$\frac{D_2- 72.8}{7.3} = -0.84$

$D_12= -0.84(7.3)+72.8$

      = 66.668

       ≈ 67

Therefore, the numerical limit for a D grade is 64 to 67.

Explain how compound interest is better than simple interest when it comes to saving money.
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

When it comes to investing, compound interest is better since it allows funds to grow at a faster rate than they would in an account with a simple interest rate.
