OK.  All the work is in the attached drawing.

Please spend enough time with it to understand what was done and how, so that you can do the next problem like this one completely on your own.

Good luck !

Here's a picky pickypoint to think about concerning the "cost".  I'm not quite sure what to do about this:

The initial, one-time $55 is a "deposit".  If she doesn't smash the bike or steal it, she gets the $55 back when she returns the bike.

So if she eventually gets the $55 back, <u><em>is it a cost</em></u> ? ?  I don't know how to think about it.

She does need to <em>give</em> them the $55 at the beginning, just to take the bike out.  So she has to have it with her and give it to them temporarily, even though she'll  get it back, and she'll still have it when she returns home.

So here's the story:

-- While she HAS the bike, the graph correctly shows all the money she needs, in order to get the bike, and keep it for however long she keeps it.

-- Finally, at the end of the week, after she returns the bike and gets her $55 back, the line and everything on the graph will shift down by $55.  The line will start at zero, and the little red ordered pairs will also shift straight down and still be on the line.

To put it one more way:

-- While Jen has the bike, the y-intercept of the graph is $55.

-- After she returns the bike in good condition, the y-intercept is zero.

What is the slope of the line that passes through the points (9, -1) and (4, -11)?
mixas84 [53]

Answer:

2

Step-by-step explanation:

We have two points so we can find the slope

m = ( y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

    = ( -11 - -1)/( 4 -9)

    = (-11+1)/( 4-9)

    -10/ -5

   = 2

Point A has coordinates (-5, 3). If point (1,6) is
gtnhenbr [62]

Answer:

(3, 7)

Step-by-step explanation:

 (4/3)P -(4/3)A + A = B . . . . . . add A

 (4P -A)/3 = B . . . . . . . . . . . . . simplify

Then the coordinates of point B are ...

 B = (4(1, 6) -(-5, 3))/3 = (9, 21)/3

 B = (3, 7)

There are 250 tables total in a cafeteria. There are 150 tables with red tablecloths and 100 tables with white tablecloths. As p
dimaraw [331]

Answer:

60%

Step-by-step explanation:

If there are 250 tables you can multiply it by 4 to work with 1000. This means you have to multiply the other table cloth numbers. 150 x 4 = 600. 100 x 4 = 400. Once you simplify you can get 40 white and 60 red out of 100.  60/100 = 60%.

A circle with area 16pi has a sector with a central angle of 8/5pi radians. What is the area of the sector?
lianna [129]

Answer:

The area of the sector is 12.8\pi\ units^2

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The area of a complete circle (16π units^2) subtends a central angle of 2π radians

so

using proportion

Find out the area of a sector , if the central angle is equal to 8π/5 radians

\frac{16\pi}{2\pi}=\frac{x}{(8\pi/5)}\\\\x=8(8\pi/5)\\\\x= 12.8\pi\ units^2
