For a particular plant, red flowers (A) are dominant over yellow flowers (a). An initial cross was made between a plant that was

true-breeding for red flowers and another plant true-breeding for yellow flowers. F1 progeny, all having red flowers, were allowed to self- pollinate and form seeds, which were then planted to generate F2 progeny. Pollen from all the resulting F2 plants was pooled and used to fertilize true-breeding yellow plants. What proportion of the progeny resulting from this cross would be expected to have yellow flowers

Answer:

The correct answer would be - 1 out of 4 or 25% offspring would be expected to have yellow flowers

Explanation:

Red flowers are dominant over the yellow flower, initially, a cross was made between true-breeding red and true-breeding of yellow flowers

Red flower plant gametes, a  and a and red plants gamete would be  A and A.

so,

       A          A

a     Aa         Aa

a      Aa        Aa

in this cross, all the offspring are red as they have a heterozygous genotype. Now self-pollinating these F1 generation offsprings, gametes would be A and a for both parents:

       A        a

A     AA     Aa

a      Aa     aa

in the f2 generation, there is only 25% of offsprings are yellow flowers.

Part A: Research a Forest
Andrews [41]

Answer: I chose rainforest

A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Mean temperatures in tropical rainforest regions are between 20 and 29 °C (68 and 84 °F), and in no month is the mean temperature below 18 °C (64 °F). The main animals are monkeys, Blue Morpho Butterfly, Okapi, Three-Toed Sloth, Jaguar, Capybara, Toucan, and Poison Dart Frog. The main plants are ferns, lichens, mosses, orchids, bromeliads, and of course many types of trees. including the rubber tree. Deforestation is a particular concern in tropical rain forests because these forests are home to much of the world's biodiversity. For example, in the Amazon around 17% of the forest has been lost in the last 50 years, mostly due to forest conversion for cattle ranching. The main cause of deforestation is agriculture (poorly planned infrastructure is emerging as a big threat too) and the main cause of forest degradation is illegal logging.

Why do viruses need living hosts, such as bacteria or eukaryote cells?
KengaRu [80]
Viruses need a host because a host is just like the owner of the virus "business". think of it as a company. the company has a boss- aka the person who made the company (this is the host) and the boss also tells the employees (bacteria etc) what to do and how to do it. without the host, the virus will die. :)
