Dear Alex Patan

I thought i would hate the school. I thought i wouldn't make any friends. I thought there where gonna be bullies. But I thought wrong. The teachers are amazing especially Mister Jason, He's Hilarious. He always rewards us when we get good grades and last week he let us watch " It " for an early start of Halloween. I met this new girl named maya she's the sweetest person. Her parents are amzing to and her hous eis huge. Plus the math teacher is super sweet unlike miss Penton. There this really weird guy named max, he crazy, he always comes to the lunch area and starts dancing on the tables. I miss you and i wish you were here but, I prefer this school.

                                                                                   Sincerely, James Baton

Why do writers and speakers include counter, or opposing, claims?
shutvik [7]

Writers and speakers use counter claims so that they can counter something if it shows up. If there is an opinion that someone says, that could be counted a claim as long as they use evidence. Then if you disagree, you can use a counterclaim to tell them that you have a different opinion that is backed up by an opinion.

Which sentence or phrase reflects the theme that nature is indifferent to the troubles of man in this excerpt from "The Open Boa
Hunter-Best [27]
Sometimes he whirled down the incline of a wave as if he were on a hand sled.
The man is clearly in a context of desperation or at least difficulty, stuck out at sea on a life preserver. The imagery brings one of a childlike delight or a fun situation. However that is contrary to the actual situation. The man clings to a life preserver, trying to survive, not have fun, but nature rolls on, indifferent to this man's plight.
