It had been a long, tiring day for Lucy but sleeplessness was just part of the job. On Lucy's first night shift she had already been awake the entire day with her young children. On a good night she could snatch a few hours of shut-eye but often there were the new admissions to deal with: the interviews and the paperwork. Other times a patient would scream all night and wake the entire ward making it a see of zombified patients all still dosed on their night medications. After more than twenty-four hours awake her body demanded sleep but once she opened the front door her husband would kiss her and leave for his work in the city. There were breakfasts to be made, lunches too, the kids to dress and take to nursery. By nine am she would be back, putting in laundry, making beds and planning dinner. By ten am she was too tired to think and sank fully clothed into bed. Thirty minutes later a door slammed. Twenty minutes latter a man hollered on the street. Ten minutes later the phone rang - her mother - feeling lonely...

Hatshy [7]

Hello. This question is incomplete. The full question is:

Explain the following exchange from Romeo and Juliet:

Mercutio: "Nay, gentle Romeo, we must have you dance." Romeo: "Not I, believe me. You have dancing shoes With nimble soles; I have a soul of lead So stakes me to the ground I cannot move."

Answer and Explanation:

In the text shown above, we can see that Mercutio is encouraging Romeo and encouraging him to forget his love problems and have fun. Mercutio tries to show Romeu that it is not worth it to suffer for an unrequited love, but that he must take advantage of the opportunities for entertainment that appear. However, Romeo says he can't do it, because his soul is loaded and heavy with problems.

jeka57 [31]
The author of "My Brother's Keeper" emphasizes Jaime's conflict by flashing back to earlier events with his brother Ted.

In "My Brother's Keeper", the author includes the line "and Jaime thought to himself, this time it must be bad" in Jamie's phone conversation with Ted in order to develop Ted as a character who often is in trouble.

Elanso [62]

"An Irish Airman Foresees His Death" is a poem by William Butler Yeats whereas "Do not go gentle into that good night" is a poem by Dylan Thomas. Both these poems discuss the topic of death.

The above two excerpts differ in how they address the topic of death as can be seen in option D: The excerpt from "An Irish Airman Foresees His Death" reveals an acceptance of death, while the main idea in the excerpt from "Do not go gentle into the good night" is to fight death at all costs.

Comparison of the concept of death in above poems

Further description of the answer is as follows:

 • The poems above address the topic of death but the perspective of handling it is different.

 • In the first poem, the poet is talking about acceptance of the concept of death, whereas in the second poem, the poet urges to fight death until the last breath.

Therefore, the correct answer is option D.
