Her decision to go on the hunt shocked the other men, who <em>"had never heard of such a thing as a girl going out with heroes to hunt wild boars." </em>But Atalanta showed that a person's gender is less significant compared to his/ her actions She strike the first wound and help kill the wild boar. During the hunt, she was the one who brought the boar to a standstill with her spear, making the "<em>boar squealed as the sharp point pierced its skin.</em>" This act shows that her actions matter more than what the men think of her and women and general.
