One of the conditions was that the German army was greatly reduced/ limited in number in order to control its power. Only 100,000 men were allowed in the army and 6 battleships. There were no aeroplanes or submarines allowed in the armed forces.

Well, this makes me think of the Pilgrims. They left because of the religious persecution. They weren't free to practice their own religion as they pleased. Hope this helps. :)
