Well break the expression into groups so...
(x² + 5x) + (8x + 40)
Factor out x from x² + 5x > x(x + 5)
Factor out 8 from 8x + 40 > 8(x + 5)
x(x + 5) + 8(x + 5)
Factor out the common term (x + 5)
(x + 5)(x + 8)

Jamilia has a weather station in her backyard. She uses a rain gauge to track the total rainfall during two storms.
Zielflug [23.3K]

Answer:

1) The graph is linear, because it has an upwards slope of 5, we can tell because 3*5 =15 and 6*5=30.

2)Real world meaning is the delta change. Hence in this case it's the increase in rain over time. More rain or raining harder as time progresses.

3)It is not linear because the second sample shows a slope of 7.5 meanwhile the third sample shows a slope of 6 which allows us to conclude that it is not linear.

4)The y intercept means the total rain that was present at the start of the recording which essentially means there was no rain when she started the experiment.

what is the smallest of 3 consecutive positive integers if the product of smaller two interfere is 5 less than 5 times the large
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

Two options:

5,6, and 7

-1,0,and 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Three consecutive natural numbers can be represented as n, n+1, and n+2.

The product of the smaller two would be n(n+1). The less than 5 times the larger is 5(n+2)-5.

Set them equal and solve by factoring:

n(n+1) = 5(n+2) -5\\n^2+n = 5n+10 -5\\n^2+n = 5n+5\\n^2 -4n-5=0\\(n-5)(n+1)=0

Set each factor equal to 0.

n-5==0 so n=5.

n+1=0 so n=-1.

This means the 3 consecutive numbers would be 5,6, and 7

OR

-1, 0 or 1.

Help fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rom4ik [11]

Answer:

The answer is 112 families in a neighboring township take their dog for a walk each day.

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that 38%, or 0.38, of the customers take their dog for a walk every day. If we multiply 0.38 times the number of families in the neighboring township that own at least one dog, we get 111.72.

0.38 *  294 = 111.72.

Round that to the nearest whole number and we get 112.

Bodie Raptor's Iphone 11 has 4/5 of the battery still remaining. His phone battery drains at a rate of 1/3 every hour. If he use
Nikolay [14]

Answer:

2\frac{2}{5} hours, or 1 hours and 24 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

4/5 battery remaining

drains at rate of 1/3 per hour

\frac{1}{3}h=\frac{4}{5}\\\frac{3}{1}(\frac{1}{3}h)=\frac{3}{1}*\frac{4}{5}\\h=\frac{3*4}{1*5}=\frac{12}{5}=2\frac{2}{5}

He has 2 2/5 hours or 2 hours and 24 minutes left until his phone dies.  (A fifth of an hour is 12 minutes and we have 2/5 to deal with, so 12 times 2 is 24 mins.)
