Mount Fuji is generally considered to be a site of pilgrimage for more than centuries and is one of the sacred mountains in Japan. There are numerous temples and shrines that are found to be present on and around this active volcano.
The Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha has been present there since the 9th century and according to the religion of Buddhism, this shrine is the main shrine for worshiping the mountains, believing that it would be the kingdom of the future Buddha Miroku. This shrine was actually dedicated to their blossom princess named Konohanasakuya hime. She was the Shinto Goddess of the Mt. Fuji.
