A characteristic describes something, sorta like an adjective.

3) starting in medias res would be one, since it means to start the plot through dialogue, etc. 

4) invocation of a muse would also be one, since the poet is inspiring something worthy. <span />

A and D are grammatically correct! B and C are 100% incorrect. 

In A, you can write "You are quite a..." as "You're quiet a...", but in D ,i don't see an error. So it's a 50-50 in my opinion.

I'm not a 100% sure on the right answer, but i can assure you that the answer is either A or D. Hope it helps!

I would say these lines illustrate a quatrain.
A quatrain is a stanza consisting of four lines, as is the case here. Shakespeare's sonnets have a specific structure - the first twelve lines are divided into three quatrains (4*3 =12); the final two lines are called a couplet, and the message of the entire sonnet can be found in those two final lines.
