Answer and Explanation:

"Two Kinds" is a short story by Amy Tan, an American author born in 1959. Tan is famous for her short stories in which Chinese immigrant families are portrayed.

In "Two Kinds," the main conflict is character vs. character, more specifically mother vs. daughter. Jing-mei, also called June, is the daughter of Chinese immigrant Suyuan. The conflict revolves around the differences between the cultures of the two. Suyuan understands tradition and obedience as being essential in the relationship between parents and children. She also believes excellence must be achieved in whatever area or field.

June, on the other hand, was born in America and has already embodied different values from her mother's. She does not understand the need to strive for perfection or to obey blindly. She wants to be free to be herself and to do what she wants, even if it means being mediocre.

The tension between the two starts to build when Suyuan demands that June becomes a child prodigy. At first, June is excited about the idea. With time, she realizes it is no fun to be a prodigy, and that it demands a lot of effort. The main conflict arrives with the piano lessons and the recital. June is forced to learn to play the piano, but she does it halfheartedly. At the recital, all she does is embarrass herself and her family by performing badly. With her performance, she has made her statement: she has the right to be mediocre, and no one can force her to be anything she does not want to.

What message does Act I send about the state of Denmark?
Gnom [1K]

Answer:

Explanation:

King Claudius sends a letter to the King of Norway to tell young Fortinbras to back off from his plans to attack Denmark. (Act 1, scene 2, I believe) Basically "something is rotten in the state of Denmark" - speaker: Marcellus, a guard, who talks to his philosophical comrade, Horatio, saying, “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark …“ (Act-I, Scene-IV). The reason of saying this is just not that Denmark is facing dirt. It means that the situation of Denmark is similar to a fish that rots from head to tail, or in other words, it shows that everything is not good at top of political hierarchy.

Dear diary,

I was walking home from school one day and decided to take a different route to school, little did i know,i walked right into a couple of boys throwing rocks at a poor puppy. Its was a horrible sight, the puppy was whimpering,I felt so bad for that poor puppy so i told those mean boys to stop before i call the police on them for animal cruelty. The boys ran off, scared to be caught,I knelt down to make sure the dog was ok.Lucky he was still breathing.A rush of relieve went through my body,I called the animal hospital and they picked him up instantly,i rode with him to the hospital and they said he had a couple cuts from the stones and then they patched him up and said "We'll look after him till he's better"I said "ok" .I walked home and thought what would've happened if i didn't stop them?...
