How do the earth's physical features affect people's activities?
Nadusha1986 [10]

The correct answer is all of the above.

The Earth's physical features affect people's choice of occupation because different geographical locations are suited to different jobs. For instance, if a person resides on the countryside, he or she is much more likely to be a farmer compared to someone who lives in the desert. Similarly, people who live next to a water body are more likely to use a ferry compared to people who do not live near water bodies. Lastly, recreational activities are also affected by the geographical features of a location. For instance, someone living in Iceland, is more likely to be a regular skier compared to someone living in California.

Create a list of major shatterbelt regions and explain the conflict.
Scorpion4ik [409]

Answer:

Major shatter belt regions include; Ukraine, Russia, Balkan, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Korea, Vietnam, and Sudan.

Explanation:

A shatter belt region is a territory or country faced with internal conflicts among its states or in conflict with another country; with some world powers showing interest in these countries because they want some of their resources, or because they want to dominate them. The above listed countries are major shatter belt regions.

The conflicts;

  1. Balkan: Russia, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian had crossroads in Balkan. Russia wanted a share of the Balkan territory. For this reason, Balkan had to join with some governments to wage wars with Russia.
  2. Korea and Vietnam: These two countries fought the influence of democratic from Western influence like the United States after the war. These were communist countries that resisted the influence of the United States on them.
  3. Ukraine and Russia: After the Soviet Union disintegrated, individual states have been fighting for sovereignty. Russia has taken over most of these states but the United States is helping most of the smaller states to resist Russian attacks. Russia took Crimea from Ukraine. Crimea has been given back to Ukraine.
  4. Syria, Turkey, and Iraq: States in these regions who are divided on ethnic lines have been struggling for independence.
  5. Sudan: After an election which many believed was not fair there has been tension in this region fueling  the South Sudanese Civil war. In 2013, there was a suspected coup, which led to a fight between two parties namely; SPLM-IO and SPLM. SPLM stands for Sudan People's Liberation Movement. SPLM-IO is short for Sudan People's Liberation- in restriction.
