Ukraine and Russia had a major conflict around the area of Crimea. The conflict arose in 2014, as Russia was considering that the areas of Crimea and even Donbass should be a part of Russia. The conflict exploded when Russia crossed the border with its troops and eventually annexed the area.

The conflict between Ukraine and Russia is ongoing as Russia although the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991 believes  Ukraine being their sphere of influence. The annexation of Crimea by Russia was seen as an violent act by international community, who condemned this and even included certain restrictions to Russia.
