How are viruses different from bacteria? APEX
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Bacteria are unicellular microorganisms that can be found everywhere in the environment. Viruses are microorganisms that can only reproduce within the cells of a host organism.

The differences between viruses and bacteria include;

  1. Viruses do not have any cell and are considered between living and non-living things, while bacteria have one cell (Unicellular) and are living organisms.
  2. Viruses are smaller in size (20-400 nm) when compared with bacteria (1000 nm).
  3. Viruses do not have a cell wall but a protein coat is present, while bacteria have a cell wall that is composed of peptidoglycan.
  4. Viruses require a living cell to reproduce, while bacteria can reproduce by itself.
  5. The DNA or RNA of viruses is enclosed inside a coat of protein, while that of bacteria floats freely in the cytoplasm within the cell.

Explain how a change in the sequence of nucleotides in a strand of DNA might cause a protein to malfunction
valkas [14]

As a result of a change in the sequence of nucleotides in a strand of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid), the amino acids also change in the final protein which leads to protein malfunction.

Explanation:

As a result of a change in the sequence of nucleotides in a strand of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid), the amino acids also change in the final protein which leads to protein malfunction. If insulin does not work correctly, it may not be able to bind to the insulin receptor.

suppose a population is carrying a condition controlled by two alleles a dominant and a recessive only homozygous individuals th
Alik [6]
Hi! :)

Make a = q, aa (homozygous recessive) = q^2,
A = p, AA (homozygous dominant) = p^2, and
2pq = heterozygous
This was derived from p + q = 1
Therefore all a in pop (q) = 20% = .20

And all A in pop (p) = 80% = .80
Since the disease is homozygous recessive (affected), then aa = qq or q×q = q^2
q^2 = (.20)^2 = .040 = 4%

Answer: 4%
