Answer:

<u><em>*Answers represent ranges not coordinates*</em></u>

Increasing on (-{\infty},-2)

Decreasing on (2,{\infty})

Step-by-step explanation:

Graphical Approach:

If we graph f(x) we get the graph of the attached image. Reading the function from left to right we can see that the function goes up until it reaches x=-2. Then it proceeds to decrease or in other words become negative. This means that it t is increasing from -\infty to -2 and is decreasing from -2 to \infty.

Calculus Approach:

To do this we must first take the first derivative of the function. Taking the first derivative gives us:

f'(x)=-2x-4

We then set the function equal to zero. This is because any extrema (minimums or maximums) of the original function become zeroes in the derivative. This is helpful as at extrema the function switches from increasing to decreasing or vice versa. Another important part is that when the first derivative is negative (the y values are negative) the original is decreasing. When the first derivative is positive (the y values are positive) the original is decreasing.

So, setting f'(x) to zero we get:

-2x-4=0\\-2x=4\\x=-2

By plugging in neighboring values around x=-2 into the derivative, we can see that x values before x=-2 are positive and that the x values after x=-2 are negative. This means that the original function is increasing until it hits x=-2 and then decreases (aka its a max).

Therefore it is increasing from -\infty to -2 and is decreasing from -2 to \infty

Given the equation,D=m/v if D=6/7 and =m+3 then m=. A.18 B.-18 C.15
Marysya12 [62]

Answer:

m = 3.86

Step-by-step explanation:

D = 6 / 7

D = m + 3

6 / 7 = m + 3

6 / 7 + 3 = m

m = 3.86

What is the surface area of the monument
Semmy [17]

Answer:

660

Step-by-step explanation:

ok this one is a little more tricky

20*5=100 do not double this one

20*12=240 do not double this one

20*13=260 do not double this one

remember the area of a triangle is A=1/2l*w

plug in the values

A=1/2(5)(12)

A=30 you have to double this one because there is two of them

60

now you must add up all your values

100+240+260+60=660

i hope i am not wrong... but hope it helps!

Answer:

  1731 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

The tangent relation is useful in this problem.

  Tan = Opposite/Adjacent

The height of the light is found to be ...

  tan(11°) = height/(639 ft)

  height = (639 ft)·tan(11°) . . . . . solve for height

Then the distance from the light to point B is ...

  tan(3°) = height/(B distance)

  B distance = height/tan(3°) = (639 ft)·tan(11°)/tan(3°) ≈ 2370 ft

Then the distance from point A to point B is ...

  2370 ft -639 ft = 1731 ft . . . AB distance

Can anybody solve this equation?<br>Y = 39.95x +25
umka21 [38]

Answer:

(y - 2647.7) = 39.95(x - 6)

y - 264.7 = 39.95x - 239.7

y = 39.95x - 239.7 + 264.7

y = 39.95x + 25
