How do I solve #16? Do I just measure using a protractor or do calculations??
sergejj [24]
For #16, it can be assume that the two angles are linear, so set them both equal to 90 (9x+x-10=90) and solve for x. Once you have x, plug it into the equations to find the measure of both angles. If both your final answers are added, they should equal 180. If not, go back and try to find where you messed up.

What is the approximate area of a 70 decree sector of a circle with a radius of 8 inches
puteri [66]
The area of the sector will also be 70/360
Sector area = 70/360 • pir^2
= 7/36 • pi • 8^2
A= 112/9 • pi
A= 39.1 inch^2

You can just 1) multiply the binomial by itself, or you can use 2) the square of a binomial pattern. I'll show it to you both ways.

1) Multiply the binomial by itself.

(3x - 2)^2 = (3x - 2)(3x - 2) =

Multiply every term of the first binomial by every term of the second binomial, then collect like terms. (This is often called using FOIL.)

= 9x^2 - 6x - 6x + 4

= 9x^2 - 12x + 4

2) Use the square of a binomial pattern

The square of a binomial is

(a - b)^2 = a^2 - 2ab - b^2

a^2 is the square of the first term.
b^2 is the square of the second term.
-2ab is the product of the two terms and 2.

You have

(3x - 2)^2,
where the first term is 3x, and the second term is -2

square the first term: 9x^2
square the last term: 4
the product of the terms and 2 is: -12x

Put it all together, and you get

9x^2 - 12x + 4

just like we got above with the other method.

The radius of a circle is 14cm. Find the radius of the circle whose area is double of the area of circle.
zepelin [54]

Answer:

 • 14√2 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of circle equation:

 • A = πr²

Let the radius of bigger circle is x.

We have:

 • π(14²)*2 = πx²

Solve for x:

 • x² = 2(14²)
 • x = √2(14²)
 • x = 14√2 cm

What is the value of x?: -5x - 16 = 8x - 3
marysya [2.9K]

Answer:

x = -13/3 or -4 1/3 or - 4.333...333

Step-by-step explanation:

-5x - 16 = 8x - 3

-16 = 8x - 3 - 5x

-16 + 3 = 8x - 5x

-13 = 3x

x = -13/3 or -4 1/3 or - 4.333...333

... represents that it has infinite amount of 3's
