Explanation:

The Intolerable Acts were meant to punish Massachusetts for their show of defiance and rebelliousness in the Boston Tea Party. So it took away a lot of their freedoms and basically their right to govern itself. It took away Massachusetts Charter and made it be under the control of the British government. They couldn't have their town meetings (only one per year) anymore and they were forced to close their port at Boston.
