One situation would be that you lied about stealing money from your friends. This is wrong and you don't tell your friend, they will know that someone has stolen their money. If you don't tell the truth, this can cause problems for your friendship. They will not trust you anymore unless you can be straight up honest with them. They won't trust you as much, but this will help improve your friendship with others.
Another situation, would be that I told my parents that I have finished studying for my exam the next day. Instead, I decided not to study for the exam. My parents will know about the score and know I was lying all along. When I lie to them, this starts causing problems between us and they might not trust me as much. If I tell the truth, that will help me not seem as untrustworthy towards my parents.
Someone might say, that you can lie to someone and it couldn't cause much of a problem if the lie was small or minor. Being completely transparent and honest is more important even if it is a small lie. These small lies can cause bigger problems if not taken cared of sooner or later.
When it comes to the truth, it is better to always be straight out with it, no matter what the problem is. Even if it affects your friendship with someone one way or another, it's better to be truthful. Honesty is what helps not have as much problems, and when it comes to lying, don't lie even if it is important or not important.
