Answer: The Greek people thought there were many different types of gods, all with different powers like Zues the god of sky, Hera god of marriage, Aries god of war, and so on. One of the important ones were Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite,Hephaestus, Hermes, and either Hestia or Dionysus. There are twelve of them. Athens held a five-day festival celebrating the gods of rebirth. The greeks had many traditions with the festivals that they celebrated for the gods. Some of the most important ones were Olympic games, which were held in honor of Zeus, and the Pythias games, held at Delphi in honor of Apollo. On festible in Athens, held to honor Dionysos, involves a competition between playwrights.

Well, one of Creons character traits is pride. Creons pride is one of the biggest themes in the play because his pride wants him to follow the rules and do things the “<u>right way</u>” and not disobey the gods. Polynices had fought against the Thebans, so Creon declared that Polynices should not be buried or even mourned. Polynices attacked his own native city and is therefore considered a traitor. His pride tells us that no man can overpower the rules and no-one should or will ever. His pride tells him to stick with what he believes and to not change the ways that the Gods have made. Teiresias made it clear to him that refusing burial rites to Polyneikes was a major act of impiety, and that the gods have decreed he will be punished for it by losing all he holds dear. Know knowing that information, it is of the utmost importance that he should seek to placate heaven by rectifying his sin. His number one agenda item is therefore to bury Polyneikes without any delay and to free Antigone.
