Explain why the Missouri Compromise line did not provide a solution to the problem of California's' statehood.
Tema [17]

The Missouri Compromise (1820) was supposed to help settle the issue of slavery in the new territories acquired by the United States. In this compromise, the 36'30 line was established. Any new territory that was added to the US that was north of this line would be considered a free state. Any new territory that was added to the US that was south of this line would be considered a slave state. This line caused a significant problem for California because the 36'30 cut California into two pieces. At this time, having a half free half slave state was not an option. This is why this compromise did not solve the issue of California statehood.

\in 1861, _______ ordered the union navy to blockade the rivers, canals, and ocean ports of the south.
Fittoniya [83]
The correct answer is Abraham Lincoln

This was at the beginning of the civil war. The south relied on foreigners to get their necessary goods like manufactured products or weaponry or similar things and they also relied on the ports to get their politicians to Europe and try to get recognized as an independent country. Lincoln blocked their ports with Northern ships in order to prevent them from doing this.
