Answer:

coordinates of H = (1, 0)

Coordinates of G = ( - 3.6, -2) or (5.6, -2)

Step-by-step explanation:

E(5,3) and F (2,-1) are two vertices of a square EFGH and H is in the x-axis.

Let the coordinates of H is (x, 0) and G is (a, b).

The length of side EF is

EF = \sqrt{(5 -2)^2 + (3 +1)^2} = 5

So,

EH = \sqrt{(5 -x)^2 + (3 -0)^2} = 5\\\\(5 -x)^2+ 9 = 25\\\\5 - x = 4\\\\x = 1

And

GH = \sqrt{(a -x)^2+ b^2} = 5\\\\(a -1)^2+ b^2 = 25\\\\a^2 + b^2 + 1 - 2 a = 25\\\\a^2 + b^2 - 2a = 24 .... (1)

Now

FG = \sqrt{(a -2)^2+ (b +1)^2} = 5\\\\(a -2)^2+ (b+1)^2 = 25\\\\a^2 + b^2 + 2b - 2 a = 20\\   ..... (2)

Solving (1) and (2)

b = - 2 ,

a = \frac{2 \pm\sqrt{4 + 80}}{2}\\\\a = \frac{2 \pm 9.2}{2}\\\\a = - 3.6, 5.6

What is the x of 2/3x squared minus 6x plus 15
iogann1982 [59]
(2/3)x^2 -6x + 15 = 0
Using the quadratic formula:
x = [-b +-sq root(b^2 - 4 *a*c)] / 2a
x= [--6 +-sq root(36 -4*(2/3)*15] / 2*(2/3)
x= [6 +-sq root 36 -40] / (4/3)

x1 = 4.5 + (2i / (4/3))
x1 = 4.5 + 1.5i
x2 = 4.5 - (2i / (4/3))
x2 = 4.5 - 1.5i

How do you solve this problem: x/3-8=2. What do you get for x step by step please.
Kazeer [188]
Step 1:     x/3-8=2
Step 2:     x/-5=2
Step 3:    -10/-5=2
Step 4:    x=-10

Step 1: First, subtract 8 from 3. 3-8=-5.
Step 2: Replace 3-8 with -5.
Step 3: To find x, multiply -5 and 2. The answer is -10.
Step 4: Write out the final answer, which is x=-10

What do we call this triangle if we are looking at it's sides
Vikentia [17]
Scalene I think. Sorry it's been forever but and equilateral triangles sides are all, well, equal and an Isosceles triangle has only 2 sides the same length.
