The antidote entered into Jared's cell and targeted the cyanide that was disrupting his Electron Transport Chain. The antidote changes the cyanide into a molecule called thiocyanate. Jared’s body can now remove this molecule through his excretory system. As the cyanide is removed, electrons can now leave the ETC by reacting with O2 to make water. His ETC can now get new electrons from NADH this then means he is able to move more H+ into the inter-membrane space. Jared’s cells can now make ATP again.
