How does the satire in this passage influence the reader’s interpretation of Tom?
yarga [219]

Hi there!

The answer you are looking for is: The use of satire makes readers realize that Tom is foolish because he doesn’t fear the devil.

I hope that this statement is between your options.

In pieces of literature, performing arts or dances, satire is a genre that is used to ridicule or shame someone through wittiness and in form of humour.

If Tom did something satirical to the person-receiver the reader would interpret Tom as hilarious or witty, but also the reader may imply that Tom was being rude and immature or somehow insensitive.

Hope this helps!

Which identifies a central idea addressed by Tennyson's "The Lady of Shallot"?
cestrela7 [59]

Answer:

Sacrifices are necessary to create great art.

In the lyrical poem "The Lady of Shallot," Tennyson describes a woman who is trapped in a tower under a curse. The curse is that she can never look outside the window, which means that her only interactions with the world are through a mirror. The lady spends all her time weaving images of the things that she sees in the mirror. One of the central ideas present in the poem is that sacrifices are necessary in order to create great art. This is the case of the lady and her art.

Read this excerpt from an argument supporting the claim that the government should limit the amount of sugar in sugary drinks.
Sever21 [200]

Answer: D) Sentence 2 provides supporting evidence for the reason stated in sentence 1.

Explanation: In the given excerpt from an argument that supports the claim that the government should limit the amount of sugar in sugary drinks, we can see that the principal reason or argument is expressed in sentence 1: "Consuming too much sugar can lead to dangerous medical conditions" then, in sentence 2, we have some examples of medical conditions caused for the consumption of sugar, which helps to support the idea of sentence 1: "For example, people may develop obesity, tooth decay, or adult-onset diabetes."

My teacher wants us to write about what it means to love, be humble, and show kindness. I need help, don’t know what to write ab
Scilla [17]

Answer:

Showing love, humbleness, and kindness are all traits a healthy relationship should hold whether between friends or lovers. Love is more than what many people think it means. Love is a peaceful bond between people(s) and can heal a broken relationship/friendship or strengthen one. Love is not just something you can just stir up. It isn't chemistry. It is everything good that lies between friends or lovers. Humbleness is not being full of yourself. Putting yourself above others makes you selfish and in terms of love, pretentious. Being humble is a truly benefitting trait that everybody should hold dear in their conscience. Lastly, kindness is a rudimentary skill. Showing kindness can be done out of love or even humbleness. This can be shown in a maternal or paternal way or even a loving way. Most people take kindness for simple acts of good. Simple acts of good are kind but kindness is something that reaches much farther. Especially to those who might be ecocentric, jealous, or just flat out rude. Showing kindness can change someone else's views and influence them. These virtues help others out and make you a better person indeed.
