Theme is the central message or insight that is revealed through a story. Anyone can find the theme just by analyzing the characters' actions and the consequences of their actions. For example, If a character's actions help him or her reach her goals, then that action may be viewed more positively by the reader. In the short story "Rules of the Game" by Amy Tan, Lindo Jong works very hard to impart daily lessons that will ]help her success to her daughter. The actions she used to encourage her daughter is to try to succeed by mastering the art of "invisible strength". Finally based on the characters' actions and the results of their consequences, I believe that the theme is that true strength is calm, patient, and strategic.

Body Paragraph 2!!!
Angelina_Jolie [31]

Body Paragraph 2

Topic Sentence: The protesters are not only discriminative, but also just don't understand.

Example from text to support topic sentence:

“These protesters couldn’t have known what Areliss felt as they shouted and waved pamphlets in our faces like tattered flags. But, I know their words were bullets to Areliss’s heart. I wanted to fire back at the protesters: Where are your ancestors from?”

Explanation of how the example serves purpose:

This example shows purpose because it is showing how their words towards her friend is so detrimental, so harsh, and so brutal. They don’t know what it feels like. And for that reasons she wants to say something that would be detrimental to them.

Example from text to support topic sentence:

“But, those who oppose DACA, who wield protest signs and who want to build walls, have never felt the dreaded doom of deportation. They forget that our long and colorful history has been built by many immigrants—including the immigrants who fought for and founded our country. They forget that Lady Liberty stands as a beacon, asking for the tired, the poor, and the huddled masses yearning to breathe free. We have a responsibility to them.”

Explanation of how the example serves purpose:

This example serves purpose in her letter because she is trying to remind the people who oppose DACA haven't felt the dread or the worry of deportation or discrimination. They forget immigrants have helped build up the country they also call home, they forget the development immigrants have given to their country. And while they forget this, they discriminate and spread hatred against them.

What is not an example of nonfiction?

newspaper
biography
directions
novel
Korolek [52]
Fiction is fantasy, make believe, not based on anything really true. There are branches of fiction, but this is just for the general fiction category.
Nonfiction is based on true facts. Bibliography's, autobiographies, newspapers and more are examples of nonfiction
A is a newspaper, so it's nonfiction
B is also nonfiction, as a biography is the story of one's life, all true events
C is directions. They tell you where to go, so it's nonfiction I suppose
D. Novels are generally FICTION, there ARE nonfiction novels, but this is your correct answer.
