History

Mid latitude zones are the regions of the Earth that lie between 23°26'22" and 66°33'39" north, and between 23°26'22" and 66°33'39" south. There are four types of midlatitude climates: mediterranean, humid subtropical, marine west coast and humid continental.

Some of the most significant characteristics of these regions are the winds. As they are located between the tropics and the polar circles, they get both cold and warm air masses, which causes fast-changing weather.

They also experience weather fronts, which is a boundary that separates two masses of different air. It can cause wind shifts and occasionally rain, thunderstorms or fog.

Finally, they can receive extratropical cyclones, causing anything from mild rain to blizzards and tornadoes.
