.The Greeks set up colonies throughout the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. This included settlements in modern-day Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, and parts of North Africa. These colonies helped to spread the Greek culture throughout the region.

While travelling on land by foot can be a bit difficult as compared to travelling by some kind of vehicle.

.The Aegean Sea is experiencing the most dangerous escalation of tensions in decades. ... Turkish violations of Greek sovereign airspace and armed flyovers over islands in the Aegean are at dangerous levels, posing a real threat to peace and stability in the region.

.Some farmers built wide earth steps into the hills to create more flat land for farming. Most farmers grew crops like grapes and olives, which needed less land. Farmers planted hillside orchards of fruit and nut trees. Greek farmers raised sheep and goats, which can graze on the sides of mountains.

.The ancient Greeks started colonies primarily because they needed more farmland to raise enough crops to feed their people.

.The ancient Greeks were sailors and explorers, settling regions around the Mediterranean Sea. The Greeks began founding colonies as far back as 900 to 700 B.C.E. These colonies were founded to provide a release for Greek overpopulation, land hunger, and political unrest. ... Colonies were a solution to this problem.
