How were the actions taken by President Roosevelt similar to and different from those
kogti [31]

Answer:

Similarties:

- It consisted of a list of social programs to provide financial aid for the people

Roosevelt create a program that's called "The New Deal" and Jhonson created a program called "Great Society". Both of them consisted of list of programs that the citizens can apply to in order to improve their economic condition.

- It promote the increase in government spending

This programs require a lot of money to be implemented. So both presidency raised the amount of tax that must be paid in order to increase government's budget for the programs.

Difference:

- Roosevelt aimed to give the people with financial security, Johnson's aim to increase people's opportunity in the labor force.

The focus of the new deal was to create a safety net for the people. The deal made it easy for the people to obtain housing, increase their pension, and social security funds.

The focus of great society on the other hand is improving education for the poor , eliminating discrimination in workplace, and provide trainings that can be applicable directly to generate income.

- Roosevelt allied himself with the populist, while Johnson stay away from them.

The populist at that time have a lot of anti-institution attitude. Roosevelt gained a lot of support from them to secure the position. Marketing himself as someone that is different from the rest of Institution. Johnson on the other hand , market himself as a more secure, and reliable leader.
