It was important for the Americans to win the support of France during the revolution because France was a major power in the world, and one that could help the colonies to have enough supplies and enough military ppwer to deafeat the British at the end of the war in colonies, the French navy defeated the British and sealed Cornwallies's trools in at Yorktown. :)
