Native Americans and indigenous populations around the Americas lost more people to diseases that the Europeans brought than the wars the Europeans visited upon them. It is estimated that the Small Pox and the Plague decimated the Native population, reducing it by an estimated 90%.

The survivors were weak and desolate and so were easily defeated by the Europeans such as the British as seen by the destruction of the Pequots. This was a turning point that allowed the British to easily claim land in the original colonies and establish dominance there.
