Answer: Subtract 3 from each side

Step-by-step explanation:

The goal of the problem is to isolate 3 on one side by itself. The only thing standing in our way is that pesky three. In order to get rid of it, and make y have the whole left side to themselves, we have to see what is three doing in the equation. Well, it is a positive three and it is being added to y. So, we want to do the opposite of what it is. Since it is a positive three, we are going to subtract three on both sides. It will zero itself out on the left side and move on over to the right side, giving y the entire left side of the equation.

Answer:

 180, 180, 148, 180, 148

Step-by-step explanation:

The two rules in play here are ...

 • the sum of interior angles of a triangle is 180°
 • the angles of a linear pair are supplementary (they total 180°)

__

The first of these rules answers the first two questions:

 • interior angles total 180°
 • angles 1, 3, 4 total 180°

We can subtract the measure of angle 1 from both sides of the previous equation to find the sum of the remaining two angles.

 • angles 3 and 4 total 148°

The second rule answers the next question:

 • angles 1 and 2 total 180°

As before, subtracting the value of angle 1 from both sides of the equation gives ...

 • angle 2 must be 148°

_____

Additional comment

Of course, the subtraction property of equality comes into play, also. For some unknown, X, you have (in both cases) ...

 X + 32° = 180°

 X +32° -32° = 180° -32° . . . . . . subtraction property of equality

 X = 148° . . . . . . . . simplify

In the first case, X is the sum of angles 3 and 4. In the second case, X is angle 2 only.

Find the slope (-7, 3) and (4, -2)

Lina20 [59]
The formula for slope is (x2-x1)/(y2-y1).

we label the points accordingly:
(-7,3) as (x1, y1)
and
(4,-2) as (x2, y2).

now just plug it into the formula.

(-2-3)/(4-(-7))

(-5/11)

the slope is -5/11.

hope this helps! (:
